Exercise & laughter = Moving your Qi can be fun & powerful

Probably the #1 issue I see in my Boulder Acupuncture practice is Qi stagnation, which basically stems most commonly from every day stress.

When we get stressed physically our body goes through a series of actions &reactions: we stay in the Fight or Flight Sympathetic response, our blood pressure tends to stay higher, our digestion suffers, circulation is impeded, muscles (most commonly upper back/neck) stay semi-contracted & tight.

When we get mentally/emotionally stressed we often: have difficulty getting quality sleep, our anxiety increases, fatigue sets in, we can get hyper-vigilant to the people & stressors in our environment. As our stress increases & builds this can begin to grow exponentially until we feel that we are either going to “pop” or “crash”; basically explode or implode.

Acupuncture & Chinese herbs can have an incredible effect on moving this stagnation both physically & mentally/emotionally. It can help to root us & keep us strong as life continues along it’s own tempo.

However what is often overlooked because we are so “busy” & it may be looked at as trivial or a waste of time is simple play & exercise. We don’t have to wait for 6 months until we get our scheduled vacation to relax or spend some quality time with our loved ones. Time to nourish ourselves & blow off steam can happen every single day no matter how busy our schedules are or how many people are pulling at us.

Some simple ways to lighten up, enjoy the moment, & move your Qi:

  • Have a pillow fight with the kids or your partner
  • Go into the yard & throw the Frisbee with family or the dog
  • Rent a classic comedy movie & watch it with friends
  • Throw a BBQ with friends complete with hula hoops, a Super Soaker, & huge floppy hats
  • Have a pot luck party with every dish having to have garlic

The list is endless so take a moment & find some way to kick back & have a bit of fun...

you may find that your relationships improve & your health too boot!!!
